About Awesome Disabled

I always thought I might be awesome, but I never thought I was disabled. As the oldest of four siblings raised in an evangelical household, I bore my family’s wellbeing on my shoulders. There was no way that I, the (unfortunately female) Sampson of my family could be disabled.

Turns out I’m way disabled, in a few different ways! That knowledge is liberating and a little terrifying. I’m a single mom of two humans and three birds, and it isn’t easy, but it’s awesome.

I’m Amy

I spent my whole life thinking I was mentally ill. Until I got diagnosed with autism at 38, and that’s when it all changed. I am not an ill neurotypical; I am a healthy neurodivergent. I am awesome and disabled.
